Crackpot approach to street cleaning in London

A West London council plans to remove bins from the streets because they attract litter.  Kensington and Chelsea officials have announced that they will be removing bins in residential areas because the system is being abused.

Bins are intended for small items of rubbish but individuals and businesses have been using them to dispose of large amounts of waste.  A trial in Earl’s Court Road apparently resulted in just a slight increase in litter.  The anti-bin strategy also means they’ll save money on the repair and replacement of bins.

Residents are appalled; convinced it will cause vast amounts of litter. What do you think?
