Next Saturday is the start of Capital Spring Clean Week. From the 9-17 March, the Mayor invites London residents to revamp the city in an initiative to tackle dirt, litter and mess. Volunteers will help clean-up communities at events throughout the capital.
It’s the campaigns 5th year. In 2011/2012 6,000 volunteers attended 500 clean-up events. Last year there was an extra incentive – to make London tidy ahead of the Olympics. Proctor and Gamble sponsored an extra-long campaign from April to June.
All you need to do to participate is send an email to capitalclean-up@london.gov.uk with a brief outline of what you’d like to do. Alternatively, you can take part in local events happening throughout the week.
